Who we are

The Ministry of Justice is a major government department, at the heart of the justice system. We work to protect and advance the principles of justice. Our vision is to deliver a world-class justice system that works for everyone in society.

Core Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) values

We are delivering the Government’s strategic aim of having the best people working in MoJ, by enabling the building of a diverse, talented workforce that draws upon the widest possible range of geographical, social and career backgrounds. Our MoJ Inclusion Approach is a strategic, departmental framework driving organisationally aligned, embedded, evidenced and evaluated inclusion outcomes. It is an evolution in our strategic thinking, moving away from tactical, reactive activities to focus on the key areas of the employee lifecycle that make the biggest impact for all our people, and professionalising the approach to EDI delivery and evaluation, improving value for money and return on investment.

The Inclusion Approach is framed by three main areas of organisational impact:

  1. Representative Workforce: We draw on the talents of the widest possible range of geographical, social and career backgrounds and promote fairness in the MoJ workforce to make the most of that talent.
  2. Inclusive Culture: We set the standard for an inclusive MoJ workplace, and all take responsibility for building an organisation where MoJ’s people achieve their full potential.
  3. D&I Designed In: Our inclusion outcomes and evaluations are driven by our broader organisational priorities and embedded across employee lifecycle areas such as workforce planning, leadership and talent development, and recruitment.
