The DSI LGBTQIA+ Network

What is the LGBTQIA+ Network?

Welcome to the LGBTQIA+ Network, an inclusive space for individuals who are LGBTQIA+ actively involved in sustainability/environmental roles, or within the profession.

The purpose of this network is to create a safe space for people who are LGBTQIA+ to discuss any barriers, voice any current concerns they might have within the profession and celebrate best practices. We then share this feedback anonymously with our Diverse Sustainability Initiative (DSI) partners to inform, influence and drive change.

The Network Leads meet with the Network four times a year, although there may be additional meetings to feed into and shape plans for specific initiatives, such as LGBTQIA+ History Month or Pride. As the network continues to grow, a more regular informal safe space to discuss barriers will be created, all members of the network will stay updated through our dedicated network teams channel, newsletters and emails.

In this space, authenticity is celebrated, and you are encouraged to express yourself freely. It’s a secure haven where you can voice any concerns without hesitation.

To join our network, simply be actively engaged in a sustainability/environmental role or within the profession and LGBTQIA+. Your unique perspective and voice are valuable contributions to our collective journey towards a more diverse and inclusive profession.

I’m Lucy Bradbury (she/her), Global ESG Training & Development Lead at AECOM. I specialise in developing and delivering training to enable teams to embed ESG into everything they do. I’ve been at AECOM for 7 years and throughout that time I’ve helped provide strategy and direction as part of the Pride Europe LGBTQIA+ steering committee. I was also on the National Executive Committee of Building Equality before I moved to the US in October 2022. I’m excited to be a DSI Network Lead to get back to organising networking events in support of the LGBTQIA+ community.

I’m Meg Baker (she/her), Co-director of Inclusion and Climate Justice at Students Organising for Sustainability (SOS-UK) and am seconded to the University and College Union once a week to support members with progressing Just Transition work. I’ve been working in inclusive education and sustainability education for about 15 years and have always been passionate about taking a holistic approach to delivering on justice through climate and environment work. I strongly believe that by creating safe, inclusive spaces we support people to thrive and this applies to all aspects of our lives. Through my work at SOS-UK, I’m working to progress this across the wider environmental charities sector as well as internally within our own organisation. I’m love connecting with a network of fellow LGBTQIA+ colleagues working in the environment sector, supporting each other and pushing to make this an inclusive sector for other LGBTQIA+ people.
