Educate yourself in the language of inclusivity: Inclusive Language Glossary

Terminology can often mean different things to different people, as we all have individual experiences.

This sometimes means that people can feel uncomfortable or unsure whether they are using the appropriate term or not. This glossary, which is taken from the Oxford English Dictionary, seeks to support you by providing key terms and definitions. Language is constantly evolving, and so we will continue to review and update this list. You can check the Oxfam inclusive language guide (2023) for a more in-depth analysis on words to use/avoid.
